What format is the NSW Selective High School Placement Test now?

Since 2025 the test is computer-based. Students answer multiple-choice questions with five options (A–E) under strict per-section time limits, and unanswered questions are auto-submitted when time expires. The test covers Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills and Writing. Does it also help with the OC (Opportunity Class) test?

Yes — the OC placement test uses the same computer-based format and tests the same Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills domains at a Year 4 level. The adaptive engine automatically meets your child at their level.

What about Reading and Writing?
